Migros Industry uses Autexis’ Digital Factory Platform as a shared solution for MES and MOM across all production sites.
Autexis has maintained a long-standing customer relationship with Migros Industry, both in its core automation business (control technology) and in digitalisation. In the past, the SME was able to implement automation and digitalisation solutions at Chocolat Frey, Delica and Midor. The Autexis system supports management in running the individual sites and acts as a digital assistant for line employees in the production of chocolate, coffee, biscuits, etc. In 2021, the three Migros companies in the Delica business area were merged and the Manufacturing Execution System and the Manufacturing Operations Management system (MES/MOM) were standardised.
More sites will follow
With the Fresh Food & Beverage Group, the business area founded in 2023 that covers, among other things, bread, baked goods and dough products as well as beverages, a second of Migros Industry’s five segments is now being equipped with the Digital Factory Platform. The software is currently being rolled out at the former Jowa. Three more sites—Elsa, Micarna and Bina—will follow. Migros Industry is aiming for an end-to-end solution for all business areas.
Synergies and economies of scale
In 2022, the production sites jointly evaluated various MES/MOM providers, with Autexis emerging as the best. With the central software solution, Migros Industry expects synergies in handling and system maintenance across the different sites, and thus economies of scale.
Production, quality, maintenance and print orders are transmitted to the line without interruption, processed paperlessly, and the relevant information is reported back in real time. The Digital Factory Platform quickly identifies sources of error, thereby reducing equipment downtime and cutting scrap. It acts as an extension of an ERP system and serves as a digital assistant for employees on the shop floor.
Implementing Autexis’ Digital Factory Platform across all M-Industries opens up significant synergy potential in terms of efficiency and effectiveness. The step-by-step rollout and needs-based expansion with specifically relevant functions bring additional benefits. This leads to cost savings as well as higher process efficiency and product quality.
